{"id":169,"date":"2014-04-23T18:11:00","date_gmt":"2014-04-23T18:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/74e38129ed.nxcli.io\/5-great-rainy-day-activities-for-you-and-your-dog\/"},"modified":"2025-01-15T11:55:45","modified_gmt":"2025-01-15T16:55:45","slug":"5-great-rainy-day-activities-for-you-and-your-dog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fetchpetcare.com\/blog\/5-great-rainy-day-activities-for-you-and-your-dog\/","title":{"rendered":"5 Great Rainy Day Activities for You and Your Dog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>5 Great Rainy Day Activities for You and Your Dog<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rainy days are always a good opportunity spend some quality cozy time indoors with your pets.\u00a0\u00a0When you want to avoid the possibility of your pup finding pleasure by rolling in a puddle, a little creativity in keeping your dogs happy and busy can go a long way.\u00a0\u00a0Follow these tips from our very own <a href=\"https:\/\/fetchpetcare.com\/fetch-franchise\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"103\" title=\"Fetch\">Fetch!<\/a> Pet Care professionals.<\/p>\n<p><b>It\u2019s never too late to learn a new trick<\/b>.\u00a0 One trick I wish I had thought of teaching my dogs sooner is to pick up their toys.\u00a0 Not only is it fun for them to put away their toys, but it also gives them a sense of accomplishment.\u00a0 Teaching your dog this trick is a lot easier than it may sound \u2014 just scatter the toys all over the house and have your dog find them and put them in a basket to earn a reward.\u00a0 Start by training your dog to know what \u201cput away\u201d means.\u00a0 Work on teaching your dog to pick up a toy, carry it to a basket and drop it in.\u00a0 Once your dog gets good at this trick, try making it more challenging by scattering the toys farther apart.<a href=\"https:\/\/fetchpetcare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/iStock_000010327359Medium.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-270\" src=\"https:\/\/fetchpetcare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/iStock_000010327359Medium.jpg\" alt=\"iStock_000010327359Medium\" width=\"433\" height=\"766\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>This activity is sure to please any time of year. Give it a try!\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Take it to the stairs<\/b>.\u00a0\u00a0If your dog is less active but enjoys following you around, try a few rounds up and down the stairs \u2014 get him interested in seeing what you\u2019re\u00a0\u00a0doing \u201cup there\u201d and \u201cdown here\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0If your dog is active, sit at the top of the stairs and toss a ball down for a bit of a workout.<\/p>\n<p><b>Have a\u00a0doggie\u00a0play date!\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>If your dog has a favorite playmate \u2013 invite him over for a little fun. Be sure to puppy proof the house beforehand so that everyone is safe and has a good time.<\/p>\n<p><b>Keep \u2018em quiet with a\u00a0<\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kongcompany.com\/\"><b>KONG chew toy.<\/b><\/a>These toys are by far one of my absolute favorite go-to\u2019s when everyone needs a little down time.\u00a0\u00a0I like to fill them with Greek Yogurt and freeze in advance \u2013 this way the yogurt (and quiet time), lasts longer.\u00a0\u00a0Give them a cozy set-up with a couple extra blankets on their beds and enjoy a nice 20 minutes to yourself.<\/p>\n<p><b>Grooming\u00a0<\/b>is a simple and practical way to spend a day indoors.\u00a0\u00a0Fill up the tub and give your dog a bath \u2013 if he has aching bones, allow him to spend extra time in the warm water being sure to gently rub the achiness away.\u00a0\u00a0Not only will your pet feel extra special and loved, grooming doubles as a great way to bring you two closer together!<\/p>\n<p><i>Have a rainy day tip to share?
